The Spanish Club offers great opportunity for student leadership. It is a way to get students involved in campus life, to know people, to help the Hispanic community, and to learn and promote the Hispanic values and traditions. The Spanish Club is sponsored by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Villanova University.
Some events the Spanish Club promotes:
- Lectures dealing with Hispanic culture
- Field trips to museums, workshops, and theaters events or plays about the Hispanic world. This year, we are going to EL BARRIO, in New York to visit a museum.
- Poetry recitals
- Certamen de declamacion en español (Poetry reading contest)
- Salsa and Tango dance lessons
- Social gatherings and parties

SPANISH TABLE: Co-sponsors of this on-going event, esp by the bilingual members of the Spanish Club. We gather at the Spanish Table, in NOVA CAFÉ, together with the Grad TAs. And talk with undergrad students in Spanish. Every Wednesday, from 4pm-5pm.

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM TALK Ms. Morgan Gruenewald from the Villanovans for Comprehensive Immigration Reform gave a brief presentation in order to better inform the club regarding the current state of immigration legislation. She cited estimates and statistics for how many individuals cross the border every day, in addition to describing the hurdles that these immigrants face. The presentation also included summaries of different options for legislative reform, focusing on Comprehensive Reform and its benefits.
Morgan is a sophomore and is the president of Villanovans for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and a member of Catholic Relief Service's Immigration focus group on campus. Villanovans for Comprehensive Immigration Reform is a student led group that advocates for legislation reform by spreading awareness and lobbying.
