The Sigma Delta Pi National Spanish Honor Society is a society formed to acknowledge superior scholastic performance in the field of Spanish language, literature, and culture, and is open to membership at institutions of higher learning in the United States and Canada.
The Society encourages college students to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of, Spanish culture, art, and history. The organization recognizes outstanding undergraduate scholarship in the field of Spanish by awarding annually the Sigma Delta Pi Award for Scholarship.
Membership in Sigma Delta Pi is a wonderful opportunity for students to truly immerse themselves in Spanish culture and to earn national recognition for their scholarship. Membership in Villanova University’s Sigma Delta Pi chapter requires the following qualifications:
Eligibility:
• Candidates must be working toward a major or a minor in Spanish
• Candidates must have at least a “B+” average in Spanish
• Candidates must rank in the upper 25% of the class
• Candidates must have taken at least three courses in Spanish at the college level, one of which must be
at the advanced level.
