Call for CONCEPT Papers
CONCEPT is the interdisciplinary journal of graduate research sponsored by the Graduate Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The journal is now accepting both article submissions. The author of the best article in the 2014 issue will receive the Graduate Student Research Prize.
Authors should register with the website, http://concept.journals.villanova.edu and follow the instructions there for posting their submission. (An author may submit no more than 1 article for consideration.) The deadline for submission is Monday, February 3, 2014. Any questions should be directed to the faculty editor-in-chief, Lisa Sewell (firstname.lastname@example.org ).
Call for CONCEPT Volunteers
CONCEPT is the interdisciplinary journal of graduate research sponsored by the Graduate Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The journal is now seeking volunteers to serve as peer-reviewers. Peer reviewers contribute to the process of determining the essays that will appear in the journal. The deadline for submission is Monday, February 3, 2014. Please let us know about your interest in being a peer reviewer before the deadline.
Those interested in serving as peer-reviewers should consult the job descriptions posted on the website and then contact the faculty editor-in-chief, Lisa Sewell (email@example.com) to volunteer.
Graduate Student Study Lounge is now OPEN!
The Graduate Student Study Lounge is now open in Old Falvey. It is located on the third floor, in room 306. Access is restricted to active graduate students in arts and sciences; you should use your Wildcard to enter.
The lounge is open 24/7 for individual and collaborative study. There are lockers in the lounge where students may leave their belongings for up to 24 hours. Please read the rules on locker use carefully, and don’t lose the key! You will be charged $25 for a lost locker key.
Recipient of the 2014 Rhodes Scholarship
Congratulations to Ms. Jessica Wamala for being awarded the 2014 Rhodes Scholarship! Jessica is currently pursuing an M.A. in Political Science here at Villanova, and plans to read for the M.Phil. in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford in preparation for a career in the Foreign Service as a political officer.
Recipient of an Essay Award from Confluence
Congratulations to one of our graduate Liberal Studies student, Kenneth Mumma!
Ken received an essay award from Confluence, the journal of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs. The essay is entitled, “Law for the Chosen: Approaches to Levitical Interpretation through the Aperture of the Homosexual Prohibitions,” and it was written for Dr. Ruth Anolik’s Liberal Studies course on the Hebrew Bible and Literature. Way to go, Ken!
