Connecting to the Villanova VPN

Currently, Faculty and Staff can connect to the University network from off-campus by using UNIT’s VPN (Virtual Private Network) Gateway. This allows a secure connection to the campus network via a broadband internet connection (such as Cable or DSL) and all on-campus only resources such as Banner, network drives and printers, and remote desktop.

The VPN Gateway can be found here:


When accessing the Gateway, you will be prompted to sign in with your VU username and password.

After logging in, when connecting for the first time, you may be prompted to install software/plugins/scripts- you must allow or install these.

Next, under Network Connect, click the Start button. Again, allow or install anything if prompted.

Once you have a little gold lock icon located in the lower right hand taskbar, you are now connected (note that it could be a hidden icon).

Subsequent Logins

Note that you will not need to go through the gateway website interface after following the steps above. You should now have Juniper Networks > Network Connect listed under Programs (for Windows) or Network Connect under Applications (for Macs). You can launch the VPN connection directly from there for future logins.
