Advising, Exams and Portfolios

Additional resources for current students within the graduate programs are available in this section.  General information and downloadable forms are available throughout this page, as well as in the Department of Education and Counseling.

Advising

Student PIN numbers allow the student to partake in Advanced Registration online, after the first semester of attendance.  Students may obtain their PIN numbers from their respective academic advisors.  Online registration will also help to avoid the delayed process of submitting registration paperwork through the Department of Education and Counseling.  It is important to note that the PIN number is only valid for one semester; new PIN numbers are assigned each semester.

If you are a current student and have been unable to register for a course you would like to take in the upcoming semester, we recommend that you contact your advisor at 610.519.4620, and request to be added to a wait-list for the specific course.  The Department of Education and Counseling is doing its best to expand classes or add additional sections for the courses that are currently full.  Being placed on the wait-list does not guarantee enrollment into the specific course; however, it will allow the student priority if additional sections are added to the upcoming semester.

Digital Portfolio

All MA students are required to complete a digital exit portfolio or a thesis in order to graduate. The thesis option requires the completion of two elective courses: Thesis 1 and Thesis 2. More information about the thesis can be found on the Thesis Option page.

Your digital portfolio can be accessed through blackboard. The following are instruction documents which include screenshots.

Anyone who decides to produce and present an exit portfolio, rather than a thesis, must retain and upload the “signature assignment” from each required course. You may supplement your portfolio with a signature assignment from elective courses. The signature assignments are listed below. Contact Dr. Jerusha Conner or your course instructor if you have any questions. Be sure to keep a record of your signature assignments and any feedback you receive from your professor on it as you go through your program.

For spring digital portfolios, you must register by Feb 5th, using the Application for Comprehensive Examination form found at the bottom of this page. You must have amassed 24 credits in order to register. The digital portfolio option is only available to those students who have completed all of their required courses. The due date for the portfolio submission will be April 10th, 2018, followed by an oral defense (a conversation about your portfolio) on April 24h or 25th. A sign-up for time slots will be released on Feb 7th to all who have registered.

If you are intending to complete your digital portfolio in the summer, please contact Dr. Jerusha Conner as soon as possible ensure enough professors will be available to run defenses.
