Director of the Electron Microscopy Facility
The Electron Microscopy (EM) Director will manage the facility by overseeing its daily operations. Job expectations include: the supervision and training of the EM technologist; serving the research needs of faculty and students from multiple scientific disciplines; the development of new techniques to serve a diverse clientele; maintaining the operation of equipment in the facility and interacting effectively with service personnel; managing an operational budget; and seeking external grant support and equipment donations for capital equipment acquisitions. Research collaborations that lead to publications are encouraged. In addition, the support of the educational and service missions of the university are essential. The EM Director will: teach courses in electron and light microscopy(one course/year); integrate the operations of the EM facility with the biology curriculum by supporting the technical needs of laboratory-based courses; supervise research students; and participate in outreach activities such as workshops, science fairs, open houses, etc. Applications should include a complete curriculum vitae, a statement of qualifications for this position, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.
