Welcome to the Department of Biology at Villanova University!

Villanova’s Department of Biology, housed in the Mendel Science Center, comprises 21 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, along with additional instructors, adjunct faculty members, visiting faculty members, and post-doctoral fellows, all supported by skilled and dedicated staff. Our teaching efforts focus on an outstanding undergraduate program, graduating about 80 majors each year, as well as excellent graduate programs at the Masters level. The faculty is active and productive in research across a broad range of biological subdisciplines, and we pride ourselves in offering opportunities for students at all levels to make significant contributions to all phases of laboratory and field investigation. Extensive resources and state-of-the-art facilities enhance experiential learning within and outside the classroom. Weekly seminars cover the gamut of topics in biology. A degree in biology from Villanova allows pursuit of a wide range of careers in medicine and the allied health sciences, research, teaching, environmental science, and industry.

As a member of this vibrant learning and research community, you study the integration and diversity of living systems from the sub cellular to the ecosystem levels, reach an understanding of fundamental biological principles and processes, and develop technical and problem solving skills that have broad application.
