Brendan Carchidi ’17 CLAS (GIS, Arab and Islamic Studies, French and Francophone Studies) is an Honors student working as a virtual intern with the General US Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During summer 2014 Brendan lived in Jordan while working with the US State Department as part of his Critical Language Scholarship and this past summer worked in Oman with the Omani Sultanate. A revealing and informative class with History Professor Hibba Abugideiri, PhD marked a turning point for Brendan to major in Arabic and Islamic Studies. He hopes to pursue his Cruse Scholarship studying Arabic in Egypt, the epicenter of the Arab World and Arabic Studies, while working for an NGO dedicated to helping refugees and empowering women in Arab countries.
