Abe and Zarina Badani joined the Villanova community in 2005 when their son, Faisal '09 VSB, was a freshman. They joined the Parents Executive Committee that year and a few years later, their daughter, Jasmine '12 VSB, enrolled at Villanova.
Abe and Zarina came to the U.S. from Uganda as teenagers, and he founded Anchor General Insurance Company, where he currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.
As an entrepreneur, Abe saw the value of the Center for Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship (ICE) and made a major gift to establish an endowed fund to support its growth. The center was elevated to the ICE Institute last year, and it continues to be an innovative driver of scholastic, educational, and professional development opportunities in the Villanova community. The Institute opened the Idea Accelerator in Falvey Memorial Library last fall, which serves as a space for students from all over campus to come together to generate and advance their ideas. The space, which features the latest technology including a tinkering lab, hosts a number of events including presentations from local entrepreneurs, seminars, pitch competitions and more. The Badanis were so impressed with the ICE Institute's growth, they made an additional commitment earlier this month.
Faisal works at Anchor General Insurance Company, currently serves as the co-president of the San Diego Alumni Chapter and is a member of the West Coast Campaign Committee. Jasmine is pursuing her graduate degree at the University of Edinburgh.
