Keynote Speaker Joanna Barsh

Barsh Event

On Tuesday, October 27, Villanova Women’s Professional Network, the College of Engineering and CLAS Gender and Women’s Studies presented Joanna Barsh, Director Emeritus at McKinsey & Company and best-selling author of “How Remarkable Women Lead” and “Centered Leadership.”

Two-hundred students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Villanova University attended the Villanova Women’s Professional Network 4th annual signature event. Barsh positively engaged the audience and inspired men and women to choose to shift their mindset for new possibilities. She left attendees with questions to ponder to ignite personal change. “What is the quality of my focus?” “Am I experiencing positive emotions or connections?” “Am I spending time and energy on what really matters to me?” Her presentation was profound and inspiring, with a powerful message: it’s never late to swing into action and identify a new direction in your work and life.

Attendee Carissa Tardiff ’17 VSB MBA, chief of staff at Vanguard, offered great comments:  “Joanna Barsh was very inspirational. She was so effortlessly authentic and genuine which made all of us want to connect with her on a deeper level. The exercise she conducted where we had to share ‘what fear we were living with’ really resonated with me. She coached us to take our fear head on by asking ourselves, ‘What becomes possible for you if you take this on?’ This attitude is just what women need to hear.”
